his project addressed the complete interior remodel of retail space in the historic Parkhurst Building in Santa Monica, CA. The client desired a space with a very open feeling throughout it. This required the expansion of the existing retail space, which was achieved by the reduction of unnecessary mechanical ducting throughout the space and the selective deconstruction of the existing ceiling in order to open up the high windows. The existing fixtures were recycled and reused, and a variety of sustainable materials, such as kirei, wheat, and bamboo board, were utilized throughout the store.

A complete interior remodel of the historic Parkhurst Building, the existing commercial space was expanded by the consolidation of mechanical ducting and the selective deconstruction of the ceiling to open up the high windows. The result is an illuminated, flexible retail space anchoring a corner of Main Street Santa Monica.
