The specific site in question had severe height limitations—unless the roof was sloped, that is. Therefore, a complex canopy was conceived as three intersecting butterfly roofs. In elevation, the house is articulated by a dialogue between stucco and exposed wood surfaces, punctuated by an ordered grid of windows and doors. The entryway is particularly striking, a 16ft wood pivot door.
